Posted: 9 July 2013  •  Updated: 11 July 2013

The Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP) cordially invites you to attend a seminar by Dr. James Acton, Senior Associate, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, titled "Arms control during the second Obama administration: A view from Washington" which will be held on Tuesday, 16 July 2013, at 12:45. Refreshments will be served at 12:15.

The venue has changed, the event will take place in:

The Conference Hall of the Permanent Mission of Japan
Andromeda Tower
Floor 24
Donau-City-Strasse 6
1220 Vienna

Hopes for progress in arms control and disarmament were high during President Obama's first term. And, indeed, his first year-and-a-half in office saw some notable achievements, including the Prague speech and New START. Progress then stalled, however, as talks with Russia bogged down and domestic opposition mounted. A month after Obama tried to relaunch his nuclear agenda in Berlin, Dr. James Acton will discuss the prospects for arms control and disarmament over the next four years, highlighting what's not achievable and what might be doable.
