VCDNP-UNODA Joint Education Project – Teaching Tools for a Sustainable Disarmament Education Community

The Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP) and the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) are joining forces on a new initiative, the Joint Education Project: Teaching Tools for a Sustainable Disarmament Education Community.

The initiative brings together professors and other key stakeholders involved in teaching arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament, with the aim of strengthening the educational community across Europe. At its core is the principle of “educating the educators”: through a series of capacity-building workshops and networking opportunities, the initiative will provide educators with the knowledge, tools and connections needed to strengthen and expand disarmament education.

The initiative will promote the integration of disarmament education into academic institutions, support educators in developing tailored curricula and teaching resources, and foster the exchange of good practices, expertise and networks.

By supporting those who teach the next generation, the initiative seeks to ensure that existing efforts in disarmament and non-proliferation education remain sustainable, effective and capable of delivering lasting impact on the knowledge, skills and capacities of future generations.
