
Sanaa Alvira joined the VCDNP as a Japan Chair Fellow in March 2026. She is also a Research Associate at the Centre for Aerospace Power and Strategic Studies in New Delhi, India. Prior to this, she was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow in the Department of Safeguards at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), where she conducted research on nuclear non-proliferation issues. Ms. Alvira previously worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies in Monterey, California.
Ms. Alvira has been selected for several fellowships, including the Atomic Anxiety in the New Nuclear Age Fellowship and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization’s Research Fellowship. She holds a professional certification in nuclear security offered by the World Institute for Nuclear Security.
Ms. Alvira holds a Master of Arts in Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. She also holds a Master of Science in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is fluent in English and Hindi, and has intermediate knowledge of Japanese.
