On 26 February 2020, VCDNP Senior Fellow Angela Kane spoke at a panel discussed on "Arms Control and Disarmament: Challenges and Opportunities for the European Union," organized by the International Institute for Peace (IIP). Joining Ms. Kane on the panel was Heinz Gärtner (University of Vienna), Clara Portela (European Institute for Security Studies) and Ramses A. Wessel (University of Groningen).

Issues discussed during the panel included: the demise of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty; concerns regarding the extension of the New START Treaty, which is set to expire in February 2021; the status of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action between Iran and the P3+3; progress on the Zone Free of Weapons of Mass Destruction in the Middle East; negative security assurances; the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons; and the 2020 Review Conference to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
