On 17 February 2018, Al Jazeera Balkans reported on the new U.S. Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) and quoted VCDNP's Ulrich Kühn. In the article, Kühn said that in his opinion "a new nuclear arms race between Russia and the United States has already begun. The new NPR makes that pretty clear." Kühn asserts that "The key change in U.S. policy is a departure from the Obama policy of less reliance on US nuclear weapons.
