VCDNP Senior Fellow Angela Kane participated in the 2019 Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity, an annual multilateral dialogue based in Jeju, Republic of Korea. More than 5500 participants from over 70 States gathered on 29-31 May, 2019 to discuss pressing security issues on the Korean Peninsula and throughout Asian .
During the Forum, Ms. Kane moderated a panel discussion entitled "Revisiting Sanctions on North Korea", which addressed the history of sanctions on North Korea, some of which date back to the first US sanctions on North Korea in the 1950s. Particular attention was paid to the goals of sanctions, how effective they have been and how their effects have been measured.
