VCDNP Senior Fellow Angela Kane continues her work as a member, and now the Chair, of the Council of the United Nations University.

VCDNP Senior Fellow Angela Kane has been a member of the Council of the United Nations University (UNU), the governing board of UNU, since 2016. As of the most recent session of the Council, which welcomed six new members, Ms. Kane serves as the Council's Chair, taking responsibility for the work of the group, as well as its impact on UNU.
Members of the Council are chosen by the UN Secretary-General António Guterres and UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay "with an eye to achieving a geographic and gender balance, with due regard to major academic, scientific, educational, and cultural trends as well as each member’s field(s) of expertise."
UNU itself is a think tank and post-graduate institution headquartered in Japan, but with 14 institutions in 12 countries worldwide.
Newly appointed members of the UNU Council include:
