VCDNP Senior Fellow Angela Kane, also the Vice President of the International Institute for Peace, participated as a moderator in two IIP events during October focused on the effect of people on the ground in conflict zones.
The first event, which took place on 10 October, focused on the challenges and achievements of UN peacekeeping missions. The Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Cyprus, Ms. Alizabeth Spehar, joined Ms. Kane in the discussion.

The second took place on 14 October. During the event, Ms. Kane discussed monitoring missions conducted by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) with former Chief Monitor of the OSCE Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Ertuğrul Apakan.

In addition, Ms. Kane chaired a meeting on 16 October that focused on Egyptian views on the establishment of a zone free of weapons of mass destruction. During the meeting, Ambassador Mahmoud Karem of Egypt discussed the issue with Ms. Kane and other participants at IIP.
