VCDNP Senior Fellow Angela Kane participated as a moderator in a panel discussion at the 2019 World Economic Forum entitled "Charting a New Future for the Korean Peninsula." The panel featured the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Kang Kyung-wha.
The meeting took place on 25 January with the aim to understand the current state of play on the Korean Peninsula, as well as examine viable approaches to normalizing relations among all parties. Participants agreed that peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula was essential for not only tackling security threats but also for promoting economic activities.
Also in attendance were State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation Pascale Baeriswyl, Administrator of the UN Development Programme Achim Steiner and Director-General and Chief Executive of the United Kingdom’s International Institute for Strategic Studies John Chipman.
While the meeting was closed to the public, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea published a press release detailing the discussion.
