The Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP), with the support of Ploughshares Fund, is pleased to open the application process for the Emergency Fellowship Programme - Ukraine (EFPU). Fellows will also be responsible for their visa/accommodation arrangements and other similar expenses associated with the relocation, living and other arrangements for their stay with hosting institutions.

Duration

Fellowships are expected to last from 6 to 9 months depending on the research or project proposal of the applicant. Applicants should agree on the research/project and on its duration with the hosting institution before applying and clarify the expected length of their research/project in their application.

The application process is composed of two steps.

  1. AGREEMENT WITH A HOSTING INSTITUTION
    • Applicants identify a research institute, a think tank, a university or a non-governmental organization where they would like conduct their fellowship.
    • Applicants contact the hosting institution, submit their research/project proposal to the institution, agree on the project and its duration with the hosting institution and secure a hosting agreement.

Please note that the VCDNP will not be able to support or assist with any visa requests and that fellows are responsible for visa arrangements.

Fellows will conduct their own research/project but may also support the hosting institution with other projects, contributing to the organization’s work, strengthening their own expertise and contributing to the field at large.

Applications are accepted and evaluated on a rolling basis. Given the limited number of fellowships available, early applications are strongly encouraged.

Reporting and Feedback Requirements

At the end of the fellowship, both fellows and hosting institutions will be required to submit a formal report (between one and three pages) on the results of the fellowship, including feedback by the hosting institutions about the fellow’s work and project during the placement.
