Background

Mr. Hoppenbrouwers joined the VCDNP as a Research Intern in March 2024. Previously, he completed a traineeship at the EU Delegation in Geneva, where he contributed to the EU’s work in the Conference on Disarmament and in the UN’s disarmament and non-proliferation organs. Prior to this, he pursued an internship at the Security Policy Department of the Foreign Ministry of the Netherlands, where his work revolved around arms export control as well as disarmament and non-proliferation diplomacy. He also worked as a Volunteer Researcher at Action on Armed Violence, focusing on NATO military cooperation.

Education

Mr. Hoppenbrouwers holds a Master’s degree in International Security with a specialisation in Diplomacy and Middle East Studies from Sciences Po Paris. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences with majors in Political Science and History from University College Utrecht. Mr. Hoppenbrouwers is a native Dutch speaker, fluent in English, and has intermediate proficiency in French.
