The Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP) will offer an in-person intensive short course on nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament policy issues specifically designed for diplomats and practitioners from 22 to 26 September 2025 at the VCDNP office in Vienna, Austria.
Taught by experts from the VCDNP and Vienna-based international organisations, as well as other internationally recognised professionals, the one-week programme will include: an extended analysis of the non-proliferation regime; an overview of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and its associated institutions and mechanisms; the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization; and an assessment of current challenges to nuclear non-proliferation, arms control, disarmament and nuclear security.
The language of instruction is English; therefore, strong command of the English language is essential for successful completion of the course

The tuition fee for the course is 1200 Euros. The organisers are in a position to waive the tuition fee for select participants from developing countries. Please indicate in your application if you would like to request the waiver.
The organisers will also be able to offer a few select participants from developing countries travelling from national capitals or duty stations outside of Vienna assistance with their flight and hotel accommodation. Please indicate in your application if you would like to apply for travel support.
The deadline for applications is the close of business Central European Summer Time on 16 July 2025, but it is recommended that applications be submitted as early as possible. The VCDNP strongly encourages applications from women and candidates from developing countries.
