VCDNP Senior Fellow Angela Kane has continued her work with the Group of Eminent Persons for Substantive Advancement of Nuclear Disarmament (EPG), following the group's re-appointment by Foreign Minister Taro Kono of Japan. This third meeting of the EPG took place on 14-15 November 2018 and involved a trip to the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, meetings with hibakusha, or survivors of the atomic bombings, as well as with representatives of civil society. Later, the EPG discussed the substantive agenda of the meeting, which explored the roles and values of nuclear weapons, the factors which delegitimise them and debated practical and concrete measures towards the elimination of nuclear weapons.
