On 21 April 2018, Ulrich Kühn, Senior Research Associate at the VCDNP, gave an interview to Al Jazeera Balkans on the French European Intervention Initiative (EII). Kühn assessed that Macron's latest project runs counter to what Berlin currently prefers, that is a deepening of joint military projects and planning under the label of PESCO. According to Kühn, Paris' objective is more geared towards having rapidly available intervention forces, particularly for anti-terror missions in Africa. The interview (in Croatian) is available here.
