The 11th Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) convenes in New York between 27 April and 22 May 2026. It will take place in a difficult international environment – against the backdrop of wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, intensified great power competition, growing salience of nuclear weapons and proliferation challenges. States Parties will discuss issues across the three “pillars” of the NPT – disarmament, non-proliferation, and peaceful uses of nuclear energy – as  they endeavour to agree on the review of implementation of the Treaty and next steps.

VCDNP experts Gaukhar Mukhatzhanova and Sanaa Alvira have prepared a series of briefs on some of the issues that are likely to dominate the debates at the Review Conference:

Nuclear Disarmament and Arms Control

Attacks on Nuclear Facilities

War in the Middle East
