The VCDNP organised a high-level event and panel discussion on contemporary and developing nuclear threats, featuring remarks by the eighth UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and former President of Austria Dr. Heinz Fischer, in partnership with the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens and the City of Vienna.
VCDNP Executive Director Elena K. Sokova was joined by IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi and Charles Oppenheimer, founder of the Oppenheimer Project and grandson of J. Robert Oppenheimer, for a conversation on the past, present, and future of nuclear energy.
The VCDNP hosted a seminar on strengthening the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) through advanced verification technologies, enhanced transparency, and strategies to reinforce the global nuclear no-test norm, in partnership with the Open Nuclear Network.
VCDNP Executive Director Elena Sokova and Senior Research Associate Federica Dall’Arche participated in the Annual Conference of the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium (EUNPDC) and met with Mentors and Mentees of the YWNGI Mentorship Programme.
Senior Research Associate Noah Mayhew and Senior Fellow Ingrid Kirsten discussed safeguards by design and stakeholder engagement at the IAEA’s first International Conference on Small Modular Reactors and their Applications.
