The project explores political, legal, and normative considerations that could affect confidence that certain steps on the path to nuclear disarmament are not reversed and the feasibility of implementing verification and transparency measures to inspire that confidence. The project aims to aid in future negotiations on the principle of irreversibility through informed analysis of past practice and perspectives gathered from States Parties of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
