With the demise of the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, questions looming about the prospect of extending the 2010 New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) and the possible effect that the deterioration of the US-Russian arms control framework could have on the upcoming Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, many experts are asking themselves - does arms control have a future? Russian and American experts gathered in Moscow on 7 November 2019 to discuss these questions in the latest meeting of the CNS-CENESS track 1.5 dialogue series.

VCDNP experts participated in the meeting, including Executive Director Elena Sokova, Senior Fellow Nikolai Sokov and Research Associate Noah Mayhew. In addition, Dr. Sokov prepared a discussion paper that focused on preventing a post-INF missile race.

A full summary of the meeting is available on the CNS website.
