The VCDNP has created an online course that provides an introduction to key topics in the nuclear field, from the physics behind nuclear fission and the IAEA safeguards system to current arms control and disarmament challenges.

The online course serves as a preparatory resource for diplomats and practitioners that participate in the VCDNP in-person short course on nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament issues. It is publicly available and provides an ideal resource for all who wish to refresh their knowledge or learn more about nuclear issues.

Combining written materials, video tutorials, a glossary of key terms, and interactive quiz sections, based on trusted sources, the course guides learners through five modules:

  1. Nuclear Energy, Weapons, and Technology
  2. The NPT Regime
  3. IAEA Safeguards
  4. Arms Control and Disarmament
  5. Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Technologies

Before completing the course, learners can test their knowledge in a quiz.

The VCDNP is grateful to the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for funding this project.
