On 18 October 2019, VCDNP Senior Fellows Angela Kane and Nikolai Sokov participated in the opening session of the Missile Dialogue Initiative (MDI).

MDI is a three-year project carried out by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and supported by the German Federal Foreign Office. The goal of the program is to convene a global network of analysts and policymakers to produce research and discuss missile technology trends and their implications for international security dynamics.

Against the backdrop of the crisis in arms control, most recently marked by the demise of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, experts in the MDI network will work towards insightful recommendations to their governments on policy responses to arms control, and the need to replace the bilateral agreements of the past.
