VCDNP Senior Fellow Angela Kane spoke to Ö1 reporter Paul Krisai on developments between Iran and the United States of America and the increased tension between both nations. Ms. Kane spoke of the strain placed on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) that was negotiated between Iran, the P5+1 and the European Union. Ms. Kane noted  that recent actions and misperceptions could lead to a downward spiral and potential escalation in the current situation between Tehran and Washington D.C. Furthermore, Ms. Kane noted that the reinstated US sanctions have made it difficult to achieve one of the original purposes of the JCPOA, which was to help Iran enter the global market. Given the current situation, Ms.Kane stresses that the Europeans need to talk first and foremost to the United States of America if they want to save the JCPOA.
